Flashcard Game No. 1

This game is similar to Twister, but instead of colourful circles I use flashcards with images.

Materials: flashcards with English words/images/numbers/shapes etc. (depending on the vocabulary you wish to review);

Age: kindergarten, primary school

Instructions: This game is played with 1 child at a time. The others make a circle around the child, so they can observe. The teacher gives instructions: “Put your right/left foot on …”, “Put your right/left hand on …”. With younger kids you can try leaving left/right out of the instructions, to make things easier. This game is fun and can be used with any words, even sight words.

I recommend reviewing the vocabulary beforehand, through games, songs, poems etc. Don’t use too many words, especially if they are new. That will get the children confused and they won’t want to try it.

The teacher could have a helper, whose main job would be to give the instructions to the other kids.
